Even with Hajj season over, don't miss an opportunity this week to convey the excitement of the journey of a lifetime. If possible, pick up a Hajji at the airport with your kids.
Have the children make welcome back signs and if possible, make or buy a gift. It could be flowers, a paper chain necklace or a "Hajj Mubarak" or "Congratulations on your Hajj" card.
The excitement of going to the airport is just one aspect of the experience. Welcoming back a Hajji will show that this is not just another trip abroad, but something that, ideally, changes a Muslim's life for the better. That's why we should celebrate it.
And if possible, host a post-Hajj party. Make sure you have the guest of honor share his/her experiences with other guests, preferably in a kid-friendly fashion.
